November 5, 2009

Whoops! Been pretty busy (as I’m sure you’d imagine!) over here at Surfstock HQ; but here’s our latest press release with all the times you need to know if you’re planning on hitting the festival this weekend. (And if you’re not planning – why not?!)

The inaugural Kirra SurfStock Festival Nov 5 – 8th Nov presented by Connecting Southern Gold Coast and in association with Kirra Surf and local businesses is a celebration of the local beach and surf culture and is set to launch larger than life at the Coolangatta Sands Hotel on Thursday night Nov5th.

Kicking off from 7pm with Tim Bonython’s Jim Beam Australian Surfing Movie Festival, a 90 minute spell binding visual collage of early Bonython Hawaii 90 series (including Biggest Wednesday), together with the latest Big Wave events at Shipsterns in Tasmania where Gold Coast Big Wave charger Ryan Hipwood almost drowned last month. Also featuring Snapper Rocks Pro junior Blake Ainsworth winning the Big Wave event at Streaky Bay, South Australia, it’s sure to have you glued to your seat. Following on, The Opening Party at the “Sands” will be accompanied by Newcastle’s singer/songwriter Nick Saxton, Burleigh Rock and Rollers Tokyo Beef and New York’s bro show DJ Spin Easy.

On Friday morning SEAFM radio will host an OB (Outside Broadcast) on the Beach at Kirra from 6am – 9am with a guest list of well known surfers to talk live with SEA Morning Crew. The Kirra Surfriders club (local boardriders) will also host a free BBQ breakfast with a stack of prizes to be won.
