The exclusive one and only surfing event in the Kirra SurfStock program is the JR Surfboards Kirra SurfStock junior teams hosted by the Kirra Surfriders club. The Kirra Surfriders are well known hosts of the annual Kirra Teams event and one of the oldest clubs in Australia established back in 1961 and will be celebrating their 50th next year in 2011.

The JR Surfboards Kirra Junior Teams event will be a one day event only on Saturday 7th November, preferably at Kirra depending on swell conditions, but if flat the event will move to D-Bah. This is a club teams competition with 6 man teams of surfers e.g. 4 from 20 years and under(must not turn 21 in 09) 1 u/16 and 1 u/12.

The format will be 4 man 15 minute heats with best two waves scored starting at 8am. The overall team score is made up of the teams accumulated wave scores such as the annual Kirra Teams event. As of 07/10/09, 12 teams have confirmed and we are hoping to have 16 teams which would create a $2,000 wave pool with $1,000 for 1st, $500 for 2nd, $300.00 for third and $200.00 for fourth.

Team surfing is an exciting concept with each competitor surfing for their club which invokes incredible team spirit compared to individual events. The club atmosphere with their tents and colors create the good ol passionate Aussie sporting character barracking for their clubs which represent the grass roots of the surfing culture. No where is this more unique and dominant of the Australian club culture and in terms of the number of registered clubs nationally than the SE region from Noosa to Ballina. This is the ‘heartland’ of Club surfing culture. The JR Surfboards Kirra SurfStock Junior Teams promises to be a red hot show of the best pro juniors, cadets and grommets representing the future of surfing talent.
